Rhys is currently Director of Hertford Theatre and Arts Advisor for East Herts District Council. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Rhys oversees all aspects of the successful delivery of Hertford Theatre, the flagship venue for the district of East Hertfordshire. Following a £1m refurbishment, the venue re-launched in December 2010 and has since enjoyed a thriving new dance and performance studio, digital cinema, bar/cafe and gallery space to support the 400 seat main house.

In addition to the professional arts programme, the theatre is engaged in delivering a range of community, family and educational arts activities for the people of Hertford and beyond. Recently, Rhys and his team secured a further future investment of £19.9m to improve all aspects of the theatre's output including increasing the capacity of the main auditorium and studio as well as expanding to include 3 full-time first release cinema screens and the development of a new riverside cafe/bar. Rhys is working with architects, Bennetts Associates, to deliver this large-scale capital development project which is due to commence in February 2021 and complete in the Autumn of 2022.
